Classic soda fountain with a family tradition, the Marco Polo restaurant located in front of the beautiful Italia Park on Pedro Montt avenue, is an important part of Valparaíso's gastronomy. Passed from generation to generation, they have already completed 65 years delivering flavors and good service in Valparaíso. "Marco polo is from the year 1955 in the hands of the same family, but since 1960 my father and my aunt took control of the business that has passed from generation to generation, today we form two teams and we take turns working every day because The problem is hard and lately there is too much work, "says Daniela Matsino, one of the owners who points to the economic activation that Valparaíso is currently experiencing.

-Daniela, why should porteños and tourists visit Marco Polo?
"Because it is the best of Valparaíso, it is a beautiful place, we are the tradition, we have been in operation for 65 years, we also have a varied menu, we have plenty of sandwiches, fish, meats, pastries and ice cream all of our own elaboration".
-How did the pandemic affect you and how has the return in phase 4 been?
"We closed at the beginning, from March 20 to April 20, when they just decreed confinement, but we decided to open because the machines, products, merchandise are spoiled and we had to continue in some way, but phase 4 has been too good You can see that there is a lot of money in circulation, it has affected us positively because there is a lot of work, especially at the weekend, lines of people are formed and that makes us very happy. "
-Finally, how do you prepare for national holidays?
"During the 17th and 18th we will be closed and on the 19th we will open with our classic menu that consists of fish, pasta, chicken, among many others, we want to continue with our gastronomic offer because I believe that people want to eat something different that day and forget the Asado, in addition our collaborators deserve to rest and we are sure they will thank you for the excess work we have had during these weeks ".
