How is an alcohol license processed?

The information provided according to the municipal procedure manual, is specified for:

  • Hotels.

  • Places where people meet, that are in the food business and sell alcohol.

Documents required for all Alcohol license applications

1. Attach a sketch of the site, location and floor plan of the commercial establishment at a scale of 1:50 (2cm=1 mt).

  • If the establishment is part of a dwelling, to maintain residential use, add a sketch with measurements of residential and commercial areas, proving that this does not exceed 50% of the total area.

  • Higher percentage requires change of destination.

  • Property under DFL N°2/59, may not sell alcohol, unless change of destination, losing benefits,

  • Sketch of the location of the premises

2.   Location indicating names of adjacent streets and distancing of the premises from the corners.

  • Include educational, health, penitentiary, military and police facilities, terminals and public transportation booths, if there are any in the vicinity, by requiring a distance of 100 meters from establishments engaged in cabarets or folklore shows, canteens, bars, pubs and taverns, dance halls and discotheques, and alcoholic beverage warehouses.

3.   Color photographs of the main entrance of the commercial premises, including marquee and/or advertising signs.

  • Maps of the signs, if they had.

4.   Color photographs of the interior of the establishment that clearly show its internal distribution and condition.

5.   Detailed Tax Appraisal Certificate, with indication of Rol owner and destination of the property.

6.   Copy of permit and reception of works.

Specific documentation for:

  • Restaurant

  • Bar

  • Cabaret

  • Hotels

  • Places where people gather that give food service and sells alcohol.

Documents:

  1. Firefighters' certificate on safety elements required by national regulations.

  2. Minutes issued by a competent professional (Architect), certifying compliance with the regulations on meeting places and fire safety indicated by the OGCU.

  3. Authorization of the Health Seremi, of the line of business to be carried out.

  4. Certificate endorsed by the SEC on the operation of electricity installations.

  5. Certificate endorsed by the SEC on the operation  of Gas installations.

  6. Report of independent reviewer, establishment with capacity greater than 100 people.

  7. Approval of advertising signs, facade, showcases with minor work permit.

  8. Payment of on-site inspection, as indicated in Law 19.925 on Alcohol.
